Dr. Questlove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Vinyl

Ever pick up an old piece of technology that seems so obsolete that you feel sad it even exists? Well that’s exactly how I don’t feel when I flip through vinyl in a record store or drop that beautiful black platter onto the turntable. Someone had me convinced that there’s no room for this junk in the average Joe’s entertainment system. Whoever they are, I wish I had missed that conversation with them because I can’t get back the 15+ years of music listening/purchasing I did while passing over some excellent, excellent stuff.

Tomorrow is Friday! 91% Care!

Thursday is done and tomorrow is Friday! But I think just about 9% of Americans won’t be excited they don’t have to work on Saturday.

“Hey man, any plans for the weekend?”

“Yeah, actually. Just going to have a funeral service for the American Dream. You?”

“Thanks man. Now I feel guilty for writing this entire blog post.”

I think that same 9% is going to be laughing at the other 91% on April 15th when they mail their check for $0 to the IRS.

But then again the other 91% could still afford Internet access to E-file so who’s laughing?

Ever find yourself eagerly anticipating the answer to the question, “What the hell just happened?” I seem to be searching for the answer to this question a lot lately; in the car, at restaurants, at work, etcetera. Seriously, what the hell just happened?

The Ovo Experience

Went to see Ovo on Sunday. It’s the latest Cirque Du Solei show to hit Boston. I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything like it. Some of the action is downright jaw dropping and some of it makes you wish you had armrests to grip because even though there’s safety equipment, at times it just looks like someone’s career could end if they made a misstep. That being said, I’ve never seen a more confident and athletic group of performers. Yes, this was my first Cirque show.

Marching a Foot Into My Mouth

My wife is one of the most understanding and forgiving people I know. She’ll take almost anything in stride and she’s got a sense of humor that regularly brings me to tears. The list of things she’ll tolerate seems unending.

Recently, while out to get lunch, I felt like I should mention how nice the weather was. It was the first day for what felt like weeks where the humidity was bearable. Leave it to me to complicate something so benign.
