The Rumors of the Death of Sci-Fi…

I’ve been reading a lot of science fiction literature lately. Like many geeks, I’ve spent years enjoying it in small doses in movies and on TV, but going right to the source of the genre, so to speak, has been an enlightening experience. I’ve been very surprised at how much of the material in Douglas Adams’ “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” has been (flatteringly) ‘adapted’ over and over again for the last 25 years. And a read of Joe Haldeman’s “The Forever War”, a Vietnam-era classic, makes one feel as though war is the same no matter what year it is. But the age of originality in science fiction isn’t over.

Tomorrow is Friday! 91% Care!

Thursday is done and tomorrow is Friday! But I think just about 9% of Americans won’t be excited they don’t have to work on Saturday.

“Hey man, any plans for the weekend?”

“Yeah, actually. Just going to have a funeral service for the American Dream. You?”

“Thanks man. Now I feel guilty for writing this entire blog post.”

I think that same 9% is going to be laughing at the other 91% on April 15th when they mail their check for $0 to the IRS.

But then again the other 91% could still afford Internet access to E-file so who’s laughing?

Urgent Elbow Reveals Mr. Brown

It’s been hot. It’s been even hotter in our house. It’s been unbearable in our second floor bathroom. It’s been excruciating in the second floor bathroom with the door closed. And what do you do in the bathroom with the door closed? That’s right. You think. You read. You do what you do while you doo. Why waste passing time when you have the time to pass waste?
